As one of the most energy-intensive industries, there is a big responsibility on electrical manufacturers and suppliers to source sustainable materials, as well as ensuring products are as energy efficient as possible.
Sustainability is extremely high on the agenda of most companies now, and electrical retailers are beginning to reflect this in the brands and products they push in their stores.
ERT is the leading trade publication for the electrical retail sector, and as a key event in the industry’s calendar it is important for us as the organiser of the ERT Awards to also play our part and reflect these changing values.
So with the help and support of our amazing sustainability partner, AMDEA, we plan to complete a rigorous data collection process and we will be working with renowned carbon reduction engineers to make the ERT Awards 2022 a carbon neutral event!
We hope to calculate the whole carbon footprint of the event and we will offset this by supporting some fantastic sustainable projects around the world.
Charlotte Steadman, Publication and Event Manager at ERT, commented: “Now more than ever, it is vital that our industry promotes not only leading technical innovation but also products that meet consumers’ expectations of a greener future. Brands and retailers are leading the way with this, but we also want to do our bit.
“We’ve had an excellent response to the ERT Awards becoming carbon neutral, and we hope to build on this further over the coming months with more partners and more impact throughout the retail industry!”
Look out for more information about this in future issues of ERT, along with our Carbon Neutral Certification, plus more insight at the event itself on 27 October.
Don’t forget to book your tickets for this year’s ERT Awards event, which will take place on Thursday 27 October at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
