CIH announces Paul Tyler as its new Chief Exec

CIH has announced who will take over as its new CEO in the new year. Moving over from BSH Home Appliances Group, Paul Tyler will be starting at the buying group on 11 January 2022.

This comes after CIH announced earlier this month that former Chief Exec, Guy Kinnell, had resigned. He only joined in September 2020.

Mr Tyler has held the position of Channel Director, Retail and CP at BSH for the past 11 years, including time spent as Sales Director for Siemens and Sales and Marketing Director for Gaggenau. Prior to this, he was at Miele for 21 years, leaving as Sales Director in 2010. He is an experienced leader with extensive sales and marketing expertise, a comprehensive knowledge of the domestic appliance market and independent retailing.

“I am joining CIH at an exciting time,” Mr Tyler said. “The company has enjoyed a record growth in sales and membership through 2021. CIH has substantially increased its warehouse and distribution offering and is continuing to support its members during the pandemic and current supply chain challenges. This outstanding performance demonstrates the benefits of buying locally from an independent electrical retailer and I am looking forward to building on this very strong CIH presence in the years ahead.”

CIH Chairman, Steve Scogings, added that the CIH board worked “tirelessly” to find a suitable replacement to take the business forward.

“This is an extremely challenging but rewarding role,” he said. “Paul’s industry knowledge and passion for independent retailers has always driven his career. We believe he will be an invaluable asset to the company and will help us embark on a new chapter that will cement our position as the leading buying group in the market.”

The previous long-serving CEO of the CIH group, Stuart Cook, officially retired in April this year.
