BSH once again had a huge presence at IFA Berlin this year, filling the entire Hall 1.1 covering an area of 6,000sqm. The manufacturer, representing its Bosch and Siemens brands, showcased its latest product highlights with a focus on digitalisation and sustainability.

There was a packed schedule of live events with various well-known chefs, influencers and food bloggers hosting various insightful cooking shows. In fact, the Bosch show kitchen even hosted the grand finale of the German-wide cooking competition ‘DEUTSCHLAND KOCHT’, where two amateur chefs go head-to-head to face a distinguished professional jury.

At the show the company also celebrated the 10th anniversary of its digital ecosystem, Home Connect, offering a glimpse into the future of the connected kitchen, including the world’s first Matter-enabled home appliance, which facilitates easy connectivity and simplifies everyday life.

“I am delighted that as Europe’s leading home appliance manufacturer, we have always been able to excite people at IFA with our latest products,” said Enrico Hoffmann, Head of Sales, Central Europe. “This year’s 100th anniversary of IFA provides a unique environment to present new technologies that meet our consumers’ needs while addressing important trends like Artificial Intelligence and energy efficiency.”

Under the motto ‘There is no place #LikeABosch. Welcome home’, Bosch demonstrated how advanced technologies can make everyday life more comfortable and sustainable. A special highlight of this year’s exhibition was the Bosch House, where for the first time, Bosch showcased a huge range of general home technologies – not just appliances.

Highlights on the brand’s stand included the new French Door fridge-freezer combinations, the new Series 4 and 6 ovens with AirFry and steam functions, and the Unlimited 10 cordless vacuum cleaner with patented MicroClean technology, plus the new 6 and 8 Series washing machines…

The Series 8 WGB244AW0 is Bosch’s energy-saving champion and said to be 50 per cent more efficient than energy efficiency category A, plus the new Bosch microplastic filter also ensures nearly microplastic-free wastewater.

At Siemens the motto was ‘Say hi to intelligence’. Its new hobs with diamondProtect are equipped with a scratch-resistant CERAN surface, guaranteeing easy maintenance and durability. Siemens is now also introducing the new material for the first time in the iQ500 inductionAir Plus hob. Consumers are supported by the hob assistant, that can be consulted at any time via the Home Connect app.

Another highlight of the intelligent kitchen was the iQ700 oven with food recognition, which has doubled its application range. Thanks to AI and a built-in camera, it can now automatically recognise 80 dishes and use cases and set the optimal cooking method. Other areas of application for AI include the browning sensor and the intelligentProgram of the Siemens dishwasher, which learns and adapts to the expectations of its owners.

Elsewhere, in a world first for BSH, it used IFA as the launchpad for its first Matter-enabled home appliance; hitting the market next year is an XXL built-in fridge-freezer combination – one for Bosch and one for Siemens.

The new Matter connectivity standard will enable fast and easy cross-brand connectivity in the future; Matter-compatible appliances can be controlled via various apps and technologies, either actively or automated and self-controlled in the background.

BSH Home Connect App ScreenAlso looking to the future, BSH was looking back… reflecting on 10 years of the Home Connect platform (pictured left). The company celebrated this anniversary with new features, including Smart Start, which automates the operation of home appliances based on the highest share of renewable energy in the power grid or electricity prices. For this, BSH has partnered with green energy provider Tibber to offer discounted rates to encourage the use of renewable energy.

The Consumption Forecast via Smart Start shows the expected energy and water consumption based on the selected program, while the Care Dashboard helps monitor the condition of appliances, detects maintenance needs early, and addresses them directly to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
