Samsung Smart TV platform hits 2.5m weekly users

Samsung Electronics’ Smart TV platform has topped 2.5 million weekly unique users – up by one third over the past six months.

Smart TV users have access to ultra-high-definition (UHD) content from providers such as Netflix, as well as catch-up TV and independent world cinema from Mubi and Curzon Home Cinema.

Samsung said the growing popularity was down not only to the viewing experiences, but also “its simple and easy-to-use functionality”.

Rhian James, content product manager at Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland, said: “2015 was an exciting year for content. We have seen a significant shift in the way people consume content, which has been reflected in the remarkable growth in users of the Samsung Smart Hub over the past year.

“People are engaging with the content we have to offer more than ever and as the number-one TV brand in the UK, we at Samsung want to ensure that we are offering consumers the widest choice of content possible. We are pleased to be working with an amazing range of partners to extend our quality offering, giving our Smart TV users access to the content they want more of.‘’
