Pure launches first smart speaker

Pure has unveiled its first smart speaker at IFA.

The portable DiscovR Alexa-enabled device has a design that enables the user to disconnect the microphone when the product is closed, thanks to its compressing design. This feature has been designed to address prospective smart speaker owners put off by privacy issues.

The speaker also has four ‘quick corner’ pre-sets, which lets users instantly access any pre-saved voice command, radio station or playlist without the need to ask Alexa.

It is also equipped with a Music Discovery feature, which, at the touch of button, allows you to add any song you hear on the radio to your Spotify music service playlist for listening back to later.

DiscovR has an integrated battery and when fully charged, the speaker can last for up to 15 hours.

It can connect to either Amazon or Apple AirPlay 2-compatible speakers for a multi-room experience, or users can pair up two DiscovR speakers for a stereo set-up with Apple Air Play 2.

The DiscovR will be available this October, in a choice of silver or graphite, priced at £229.99.
