LG brings Northern Lights to Iceland with OLED TVs

LG Electronics is kicking off its campaign to make the Northern Lights visible to residents and visitors with an event featuring Icelandic band, Of Monsters and Men.

The event, which will showcase the Northern Lights via HDR-enabled 4K OLED TVs, is taking place on July 20th in Reykjavik, Iceland.

LG has invited nearly 1,000 guests to the Lights Out, Stars On concert. LG hope to give summer tourists and residents an opportunity to view the Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis, during the summer months when the lights cannot usually be seen.

Harpa Concert Hall will feature 40 large OLED TV’s, installed in an array to display the Icelandic night sky.

The event will be followed by a four-month exhibition, which will portray the beauty of Iceland on LG OLED TVs.

Brian Kwon, president of the LG Home Entertainment Company, said: “LG has been an innovator in TV technology for the last 50 years and this drive to create the best display has culminated in today’s OLED TV.

“By accurately capturing the beauty of Iceland’s Northern Lights, residents and tourists alike will be able to experience the magic of nature as only LG OLED TV makes possible.”

The campaign will also feature a photography exhibition displaying images of Icelandic landscapes and night skies. The photo exhibition will run from July 20th until November 20th in Harpa Concert Hall.
