The Know Watt’s What campaign, an initiative from the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances (AMDEA), has won a second prestigious award.
Launched in 2022, the campaign was recently honoured with the Best Awareness Campaign or Advancement of a Cause award at the Association of Excellence Awards; this marks another major recognition for the campaign, which has already made waves in both the consumer and policy sectors.
The judges praised the campaign for its comprehensive approach, noting its innovative content and adaptability in addressing evolving consumer needs. They also highlighted its impressive reach and engagement with various stakeholders.
Commenting on the campaign’s success, the judges said: “The campaign’s strength lies in its evidence-based strategy, adaptability to changing consumer needs, and effective policy influence. Its multi-faceted approach and measurable impact underscore its effectiveness in advancing the cause of sustainable appliance use.”
Paul Hide, CEO of AMDEA, also reflected on the campaign’s success, stating: “Know Watt’s What is the archetype of a well-designed campaign. It tackles a great issue of our age – sustainability – but in a way which is both truly helpful to appliance users and highly relevant for policymakers and retailers. By using imagination, accurate targeting, and good execution, it has made its mark and is helping to shift the dial for consumers.”
The Know Watt’s What campaign helps consumers save money and reduce their environmental impact by maximising the use of technology in their home appliances. It provides clear guidance on how appliances can reduce costs and minimise environmental effects, including lowering water usage and emissions. The initiative also offers tips on how to obtain effective repairs and spares, as well as advice on purchasing more energy-efficient models. Public affairs events and resources for the retail trade have also been key components of the campaign’s success.
This latest win follows the campaign’s recognition as Campaign of the Year at the 2023 Trade Association Awards. With these accolades, Know Watt’s What continues to shine as a standout example of effective communication and sustainability advocacy.
