Hughes Trade gives Norwich charity a boost

East Anglian electricals retailer Hughes Trade has donated a significant gift to Norwich-based charity, Able2B, which helps people with a disability optimise their aerobic fitness and muscle strength.

According to Hughes, Able2B was looking for some large TVs to enable it to use its Uptivo heart rate monitoring system. They approached Hughes Trade with a view to purchasing the TVs, but impressed by the charity, the retailer decided to donate a 75″ and 65″ set instead.

Able2B runs a specially adapted gym in Gilchrist Close, Norwich and was the brainchild of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Rachael Hutchinson and former professional boxer and personal trainer, Jon Thaxton.

Hughes Trade’s Vicky Smith, who visited the charity after receiving the call, commented: “What I saw was so impressive and you could immediately see the positive effect it was having on people’s lives.

“Following my visit, we had no hesitation in giving the charity the TVs required plus mounting brackets which have immediately been put to good use.”

The introduction of the Uptivo heart rate monitoring system via the TVs, not only provides information on the effectiveness of the training but also acts as a safety net allowing the monitoring of clients who may have medical problems.

Able2B’s Rachael Hutchinson added: “Our classes offer a way for people to improve cardiovascular fitness and concentration along with self-belief and self-confidence. The screens also allow us to show footage of clients to potential customers as it is an excellent way to demonstrate what they themselves might achieve.

“Over the years we have relied on help from local businesses to enable us to expand so we are extremely grateful for Hughes Trade’s support.”
