Hoover’s H-WASH 500 HW412AMC smart washing machine has been awarded a Which? Best Buy endorsement following strong ratings in the consumer champion’s rigorous review.
Tested November 2020, the appliance impressed a panel over numerous categories with tests including overall cleaning, rinsing efficiency, noise output, energy and water use and spin dry capabilities.
Which? Best Buy highlights the washing machine’s 12kg drum capacity as one of its best features. The spacious drum means it can thoroughly clean anything from duvets to school uniforms and stubborn stains on football kits.
But it’s Hoover’s “dedication to energy efficiency” and launching a model that fits in with modern day use of technology that “sets it apart from the rest”, Which? said.
Experts stated within the review: “The H-WASH 500 is about as roomy as it gets and is great for large households with a constant supply of dirty laundry.”

Hoover’s H-WASH 500 (pictured left) also has built in Wi-Fi which means it can be controlled and monitored from a smartphone using the hOn smart home app.
The machine’s features include an LCD digital display, auto load adjustment, hygiene and allergy programmes and a steam refresh which relaxes fibres in garments to prevent creasing.
In the ‘Should I buy it?’ Section of the Which? Best Buy review, the experts stated: “If you’re after a large-capacity washer that cleans well and won’t take too long to work through your linen basket, this machine should be high on your wish list.”
Steve Macdonald, Business Director, Home Laundry Appliances at Hoover, said: “To be on anyone’s wish list is fantastic but to be recognised by a brand that is held in such high regard means a lot to us as a company. We know how important independent reviews are to consumers, so we’re delighted that the H-Wash 500 has passed with flying colours.
“Furthermore, Which? is a trusted and credible brand and one that aligns well with Hoover’s own visions and values. Like us, the organisation prides itself on keeping the consumer at the forefront of everything it does.”
