Collection boxes have been designed to sit in the reception area at participating David Lloyd Clubs

Haier has announced that it is partnering with David Lloyd Clubs to inspire more children to get into sport, and it is launching a Preloved Tennis Racquet Programme.

The companies have said collection boxes will be at the reception in participating David Lloyd Clubs and anyone who drops off a tennis racquet will also be able to enter a prize draw with a chance to win a trip to the ATP Tour finals in Turin or ten tennis lessons at their local David Lloyd Club.

Anthony Peart, Director of Brand and Communications at Haier, said: “We are proud partners of the ATP Tour this year, and as a part of this campaign, we are delighted to be working with David Lloyds Clubs on a Preloved Tennis Racquet Programme to give back to local communities and to get involved with tennis at a grassroots level.”

There was concern between 2016 and 2021 as participation in tennis fell but this year has seen an increase, with adult participation in the sport growing by 43 per cent.

“Through the power of tennis, the Haier brand is getting closer to customers attracted by outstanding performance, tailor-made, smart and ecosystem experiences,” said Mr Peart.

The racquets will be collected and refurbished before being passed on to local schools and communities.
