ERT to take part in Electrical Safety First’s product safety conference 2020

ERT Editor, Jack Cheeseman, will be taking part in this year’s product safety conference from Electrical Safety First.

The event is running over two consecutive mornings starting tomorrow, Wednesday 4 November (9.30am-11.30am) and then Thursday 5 November (9.30 am – 12.30pm).

It is the twelfth edition of the conference – which this year is called ‘A Sustainable Future’ – and it will be online and free to attend.

Thursday’s agenda sees ERT’s Jack Cheeseman present a series of interviews around IoT-enabled smart systems and devices and how developers and regulators need to be aware of the potential issues around cyber security, interoperability and potential risks to consumer safety.

Mr Cheeseman will inviting three industry experts to share their perspective on the challenges and opportunities around IoT-connected products. The interviewees are Alan Sellers, Senior Compliance and Approvals Manager, Dyson Technology, Kevin Sweeney, Director of Assurance at Intertek, and Julie Hunter, Chair of the Consumer and Public Interest Network at BSI.

The day kicks off from 9.30am online – you can register here – and Wednesday’s sessions also start at 9.30am.

On Wednesday (4 November) the focus is on sustainability in relation to a number of themes, from product end-of-life and the circular economy, to the legislative landscape and the impact of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
