ERT Awards 2018: winners revealed

The winners of this year’s ERT Awards have been announced.

They were revealed at a special lunchtime ceremony at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden on October 1, as part of ERT’s Turning Point Live! all-day event.

Turning Point Live! featured an impressive line-up of guest speakers, including experts on retail and marketing, as well as independent dealers sharing their experiences and advice on how to adapt your business.

Yorkshire retailer Herbert Todd and Son, which has stores in York and Harrogate, scooped three awards this year – Independent Electrical Retailer of the Year, the Turning Point Award and Domestic Appliances Retailer of the Year.

Sean Hannam, ERT editor

The awards for Consumer Electronics Retailer of the Year and Domestic Appliances Showroom went to Peter Tyson in Carlisle, Cumbria, while Consumer Electronics Showroom of the Year was picked up by Stone Audio in Poole, Dorset.

Premier Sounds in Bodmin, Cornwall, won the award for Customer Event of the Year.

The Salesperson of the Year Award went to Jennifer Balfour, store manager of Steamer Trading, Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Suppliers who won awards were Sony (Training Award) and BSH – area business manager Ian Toller walked away with the accolade of Independent Sales Rep of the Year.

There was also a Special Achievement Award, which was won by Stuart Tickle, managing director of custom installation distributor AWE Europe.

This year’s ERT Awards were supported by Amdea, Blomberg, Electrical Safety First, Exertis, Freeview Play, Gekko, Hoover, Miele, Panasonic, Retra, Roberts and techUK.

The hospitality partners for the day were Yamaha and Yusen Logistics.

Said ERT editor Sean Hannam: “Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to the industry and our sponsors for supporting Turning Point Live! and the ERT Awards – the biggest and best awards in the electrical retailing sector. Winning an ERT Award is a great endorsement for your business – make sure you shout about it in your marketing material.
