Consumer safety charity Electrical Safety First has announced that its annual Electrical Product Safety Conference will take place on 26 November 2026, at Church House, Westminster, London.

Now in its 18th year, the conference will bring together more than 200 professionals from across government, manufacturing, retail, importing, legal services, fire and rescue, and product testing to explore some of the most pressing challenges facing the electrical product industry.

Under the theme ‘Regulation, Responsibility, Risk’, the one-day event will examine the changing legislative landscape, including the potential impact of the Product Regulation and Metrology Act, alongside the responsibilities of businesses throughout the supply chain.

The conference will also explore how emerging technologies are transforming product safety, from initial design through to everyday use, and the challenges associated with the growing circular economy as more electrical products are reused, repaired and refurbished.

A series of presentations, panel discussions and fireside chats will cover regulatory reform, technology and safety, hazard-based approaches to high-risk products and the challenges that arise when innovation meets UK electrical safety requirements.

Among the confirmed speakers are Graham Russell MBE, Chief Executive of the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), Stefan Hay, Chief Executive of the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances (AMDEA), and John Herriman, Chief Executive of the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI).

Representing the retail sector will be Hannah Hilliard, Regulatory Compliance Manager at Currys, and Inga Becker-Hansen, Policy Adviser at the British Retail Consortium (BRC).

Other speakers include Kate Dearden MP, Minister of State for the Future of Work, and Luke Osborne, Technical Director at Electrical Safety First.

Lesley Rudd, Chief Executive of Electrical Safety First, said: “Our conference comes at a pivotal moment for product safety. With regulation evolving and new technologies entering homes at pace, it is vital that safety keeps up.

“Our latest conference is set to be our best yet, bringing together government and industry leaders, alongside experts from across the sector, to share insights, challenge thinking and drive practical solutions. By working collaboratively, we can help ensure the UK’s product safety framework is robust, responsive and fit for the future.”

Alongside the conference sessions, delegates will have opportunities to network with industry specialists and discuss the issues affecting electrical product safety.

UL Standards & Engagement is the headline sponsor, with additional sponsorship from the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, Sedgwick and the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO).
