Electrical Safety First’s Electrical Product Safety Conference will take place on 21 November at Church House in Westminster; its conference, which is now in its 16th year, will shine a spotlight on the safety and lifespan of electrical products.
Hosted by Electrical Safety First (ESF), the theme for this year’s conference “Time for Change” and it explained that this resonates with the industry’s need to adapt and innovate.
Lesley Rudd, CEO of Electrical Safety First, said: “Each year, our conference serves as a platform for industry professionals and leaders to come together, exchange insights, and drive change in the electrical product sector. With a focus on key trends impacting the electrical product industry, attendees can expect a program featuring presentations, panel discussions, and fireside chats.
Critical topics up for discussion this year include:
- the impact of changes by government on risk and enforcement
- keeping safety at the forefront of net zero
- the changing tide of global markets
- emerging issues on the horizon
Speakers include Tom Bell, who leads on the UK and EU proactive regulatory engagement for product safety at Amazon, Jerry Burnie OBE, Head of Compliance at the British Toy & Hobby Association, and John Herriman, Chief Executive of the Chartered Trading Standards Institute. There’s also Christopher Bell, the Team Leader for the City of Edinburgh Council Trading Standards, and is the Product Safety Lead for the Society of Chief Officers for Trading Standards for Scotland (SCOTSS), and also Will Creswell, Deputy Chief Executive, Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), Department for Business and Trade.
ERT’s Editor, Jack Cheeseman, will also be hosting one of the day’s sessions – called Change for the Future. A series of presenters will be offering a glimpse into a changing world, including the rise of connected products, digital product data, the race to net zero and how to empower consumers.
