Currys launches ‘Green Friday’ campaign

Currys has launched its “Green Friday” campaign, which combines with Black Friday together “to unite sustainability with immense deals.”

The retailer said it is a first for the company and it will feature savings on over 140 home appliances, all with the aim of reducing energy usage and lowering household energy bills.

Currys Group Environment Manager, David Ville, said: “We know e-waste is a growing worry for customers, with 75% of the nation saying they’re concerned about e-waste, this includes anything with plugs, cords and electronic components.

“As such, Currys is committed to helping people make more sustainable decisions when it comes to choosing their home appliances.”

Ahead of Black Friday, Currys is also encouraging customers to recycle their old appliances by eliminating its usual £30 fee.

The eco-campaign comes after research conducted by the retailer found that 90 per cent of people consider energy efficiency to be a deal-breaker when purchasing appliances.
