Cello to relaunch Ferguson TVs

British TV manufacturer Cello Electronics has revealed it will relaunch the Ferguson TV brand in the UK.

Cello recently completed a deal with Technicolor of France and will build and manufacturer Ferguson LED TVs from its production line in Bishop Auckland, County Durham.

The TVs will be available from November, with Cello initially focusing on manufacturing larger 4K UHD TVs from 50-inch to 75-inch models.

These models will retail from around £499 and initial deliveries have already been received from independent buying group Euronics.

The new range of Ferguson TVs will boast thin LED displays with screen sizes ranging from 24-inch to 75-inch, with all 50-inch and over models delivering 4K Ultra High Definition.

Ferguson was a market leader throughout the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s when it was part of the Thorn EMI Empire. The brand was later acquired by Thompson SA in 1987 but had disappeared from UK shelves in recent years.

Brian Palmer, Cello chief executive, commented: “I started out in this business selling Ferguson to consumers and truly understand the trust people had in the brand over the years. Having now come full circle I am proud to have the opportunity to bring this iconic brand back into the UK market.”
