Bose Corporation has acquired McIntosh Group in a move to broaden its audio research and product offerings in the luxury market.

McIntosh Group, the parent company of high-performance brands such as McIntosh and Sonus Faber, is renowned for its premium amplifiers, speakers, and turntables, all of which will now be part of the Bose portfolio.

Lila Snyder, CEO of Bose, commented: “Over the last six decades, we’ve delivered the best premium audio experiences possible. Now, with McIntosh Group in our portfolio, we can unlock even more ways to bring music to life at home, on the go, and in the car. We look forward to honouring the heritage of these iconic brands, investing in their future, and pushing the boundaries of audio innovation to deliver experiences our customers have never heard before.”

This acquisition will enable Bose to offer a wider range of products, from earbuds and Bluetooth speakers to high-end home and automotive sound systems. The strategy brings together over 175 years of combined expertise, allowing Bose to further enhance its home and automotive audio lines with a focus on optimised performance.

Bose will continue to develop its popular audio products, while also leading innovation in areas such as noise cancellation, hearing augmentation, and immersive audio technologies.

Daniel Pidgeon, CEO of McIntosh Group, added: “Bose’s dedication to research and its singular focus on audio presents a tremendous opportunity to complement and enhance our own pursuit of delivering unmatched, ultimate-quality audio experiences. Gaining access to their expertise in automotive audio will also help us accelerate our presence in the market and enable us to deliver solutions that match our reputation for performance.”
