Editor’s Comment: The great outdoors
In the words of Mungo Jerry, “In the Summertime, when the weather is high,” people love to be outdoors! Admittedly it is hard to imagine that right now with this seemingly endless Winter/Spring period we’re having.
But eventually the weather will cheer up and people will begin to spend more time outside. So what better time for electrical retailers to refresh their showrooms and entice customers in with the latest collection of outdoor tech. Rugged portable speakers are seasonal favourites, from designer Bluetooth minis to larger ‘party size’ machines with flashing lights and microphones!
But it’s not just audio that can disturb the neighbours on a quiet Summer’s evening. Outdoor viewing is a growing market right now, and while certain brands already lead in this space, other players are moving in with some brilliant new innovations… such as LG’s StanbyME Go portable TV.
Turn to page 18 where Steve May reviews some of the coolest kit around at the moment. Then on page 24 of this issue we’re looking at the latest outdoor cooking appliances and lighting solutions.
Those long Summer evenings mean al fresco dining is the order of the day, and thankfully there’s a growing selection of barbecuing and grilling products from some of the industry’s biggest brands.
Electrical retailers may not be the first place consumers think of to shop for this kind of thing, but in recent years dealers have diversified into new areas of the market. And with such a blend of interior and exterior home spaces these days, there’s no reason why shopfloor space can’t be dedicated solely to Summertime sales…
