Italian cooking brand, Smeg has launched a new built-in appliance line, MUSA, which was unveiled at the recent kbb show at the NEC, Birmingham, which took place from 1-4 March.
With over 75 years of expertise, Smeg appliances have continually evolved alongside interior styles and movements. The kitchen symbolises a place of exchange, care and transformation, and MUSA interprets this philosophy through essential lines, measured curves and refined detailing inspired by Italian architecture, Smeg claims.
Developed in collaboration with Milanese design studio BorromeoDeSilva, the collection enriches Smeg’s offering with a refined and sophisticated aesthetic. Glossy and matte surfaces alternate to create a subtle play of light and shadow, transforming each appliance into a graphic statement. Every gesture – a handle, a control, a radius – becomes intentional.
The MUSA aesthetic extends across a collection of built-in appliances, allowing for a coordinating kitchen suite to be created. Initially comprising of four 60cm ovens available in black and silver, one 45cm compact oven, a 15cm warming drawer, a built-in microwave and full range of induction hobs in 60cm, 75cm, 80cm and 90cm widths, plus a T-shaped hood (coming later this year). The range has been designed with versatility in mind, offering a product to fit every life stage, from young professional to established families.
The collection also benefits from Smeg’s leading cooking technology, including SpeedwaveXL, SteamOne and Steam100Pro ovens, to ensure excellent cooking results, ease of use and simple cleaning and maintenance.
At the MUSA family’s core are 60cm multifunction ovens designed for versatile everyday cooking, supported by intuitive dials or touch screen, models offer easy maintenance such as vapour clean, which uses steam to loosen residue, or models with pyrolytic self-cleaning technology.
SpeedwaveXL is a highlight of the collection, which combines traditional fan cooking with microwave technology. This dual approach not only frees up valuable countertop space but can reduce cooking time by up to 40%. Continuous microwave generation ensures softer, more even results, accelerating the cooking process but keeping exceptional culinary results at the heart.
SteamOne models offer assisted steam technology, delivering up to 40% steam to enhance moisture retention, improve texture and elevate everyday recipes with a gentle, controlled boost.
The MUSA collection also includes a range of 45cm compact combination ovens, offering space-efficient solutions that maintain full performance capabilities.
The matching 15cm warming drawer features a push-pull, handle-free mechanism and multiple predefined functions for proving dough and warming plates. Induction hobs with a range of intelligent features complete the range including AutoPot, Booster, Bridging Zones and Child Lock safety feature. For those looking for an alternative to a 60cm oven, the 45cm model and warming drawer can pair seamlessly together for flawless symmetry.
“MUSA is an expression of the values that have guided Smeg for over 75 years: the quest for quality, attention to detail and the ability to combine innovation and style. With this collection, we are presenting not only new appliances, but also a coherent visual language that can dialogue with the spaces in the home and the people living there, thus confirming the identity and aesthetic vision that sets the brand apart,” comments Vittorio Bertazzoni, Chairman of Smeg.
