What are the charities?

This year’s TRIC president, Roman Kemp, set up Joe’s Buddy Line following the sad and very unexpected death of his best friend, Joe Lyons, who took his own life. The charity aims to protect young people’s mental health, from primary school all the way through to university, by offering workshops run by certified mental health professionals and a range of other initiatives.

Starlight ImageCurrent TRIC Chair, Roy Dickens, who many people know from his days at Sony, as well being an Olympian, supports Starlight Children’s Foundation, a charity that brings the joy of play to seriously ill children, providing a source of well-being and resilience in the face of unimaginable pain and trauma.

Speaking about the money raised, TRIC Vice Chair, Charlotte Graham-Cumming, who co-hosted the raffle draw, commented: “As you know TRIC is a not-for-profit organisation which raises funds for good causes, on behalf of the broadcast media community and its associated industries. We are an ongoing media partner with ERT and we are grateful to the team for allowing TRIC to be associated with the ERT Awards.

“This year the TRIC nominated charities have extremely personal connections to our TRIC President, Roman Kemp, and our Chairman, Roy Dickens. And it was absolutely fantastic to see how much was raised at the ERT Awards ceremony! Thank you so much to everyone who purchased raffle tickets and contributed to these two enormously worthy charities.

“Our partnership with ERT is demonstrative of the bonds that TRIC has across the entire industry – making the TRIC Awards very personal to everyone. Thank you again.”

ERT Events Manager, Charlotte Steadman, added: “A huge thank you to everyone who supported the ERT Awards charity raffle this year to raise money for these two charities. It will go a long way to help them both continue their amazing work.

“Thanks also to EPE, Roberts and TRIC for kindly donating the prizes. We couldn’t have done this without them!

“And of course, congratulations to the raffle winners! Thank you again for taking part!”
