New European Marketing Director at Sharp

Japanese technology company, Sharp, has extended its marketing team in Europe, with the new position of European Marketing Director filled by Kai Thielen.

After returning to the European market in 2016, Sharp is undergoing a new strategic positioning with a strong focus on its consumers. Sharp is to strengthen its European organisational power by increasing human resources in marketing.

Following positions at Sony and Bauknecht/Whirlpool, Mr Thielen became Trade Marketing Manager at LG in 2003. As Head of Integrated Marketing, he held overall responsibility for LG’s brand communication in Germany since 2012, and played a key role in the successful restart and development of the marketing function at the new location in Eschborn.

“Sharp has a long history characterised by ingenuity and innovation,” Mr Thielen commented: “Even today, Sharp can benefit from its longstanding experience in research and development and bring it into groundbreaking technologies like 8K and AIoT. I am looking forward to actively shaping the progress of this strong brand in Europe and realising Sharp’s vision.”

In his position as European Marketing Director, Mr Thielen directly reports to Sascha Lange, European Vice President Sales & Marketing.

Sascha Lange added: “We are happy that Sharp could attract such an experienced marketing professional as Kai Thielen with such an extensive industry expertise. In conjunction with our Europe-wide PR network development we send out a clear signal: Sharp is back.”
