John Bamford dies

Hi-fi journalist and product manager John Bamford has died following a long illness. He was 62.

Mr Bamford began his career in the early 1980s, as assistant editor of Hi-Fi Answers, before joining Hi-Fi Choice as editor of the magazine in 1988.

He then moved to the manufacturing side, starting at Pioneer GB in 1991 as press relations officer and then taking over the role of product manager. Mr Bamford worked for Pioneer for 14 years before joining Meridian in 2005 as product manager – a role that was created for him.

When he left Meridian in 2008, he rekindled his journalistic career as a staffer and then a freelance contributor to Hi-Fi News.

Mr Bamford is survived by his wife Dee and children Josh and Cassie.

The funeral will take place at St Mary’s Church in Putney High Street, London SW15 1SN at 12.30pm on Tuesday, October 2. Everyone is welcome.
