Qualtex buys Jegs

Appliance spare parts distributor and manufacturer Qualtex has acquired Jegs, a supplier of products in the electrical, housewares, DIY and gardening sectors.

Qualtex said the purchase of the Southend-on-Sea business further increases its share in the global appliance spare parts market.

Jegs will continue to operate under this name and will retain its current format, with the website and subsequent documentation remaining the same.

Qualtex chairman John Hughes said: “This is the first of several acquisitions we have lined up. These events are made possible by the tremendous team we have at Qualtex and the support of the family. We welcome all the team at Jegs.”

Qualtex chief executive Philip Hulme commented: “The acquisition of Jegs for our business was a natural choice: we’re both family-run companies, with a keen interest in supplying high-quality spares for a range of domestic appliances and finished goods. This development forms a crucial part of our plan to grow Qualtex both here in the UK and in the international markets.”

Kirk Whitehead, Qualtex managing director, added: “The customers of both Jegs and Qualtex will benefit greatly from this acquisition, with the combination of the former’s supplier relationships and the latter’s global presence with manufacturers and other suppliers. This will result in additional high-quality products being offered on both sides, at affordable prices.”
