John Lewis appoints new head of electricals and home technology

Department store chain John Lewis has appointed Laurence Mitchell as its buying director for electricals and home technology (EHT).

Mr Mitchell (pictured) joined the retailer as head of buying for EHT in February 2015, but will begin his new position as director on August 1 this year.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Mitchell said: “Our EHT category has grown at pace in recent years and I’m looking forward to driving this growth even further with innovative products and fantastic customer experiences. It’s a real privilege to take on this exciting opportunity at a time when our electricals and home technology product range is the most inspiring it has ever been.”

Mr Mitchell will join Christine Kasoulis, buying director for fashion, and Johnathan Marsh, buying director for home, who will together oversee each buying category for John Lewis, reporting into trading director, Simon Coble.

Said Mr Coble: “I’m delighted that Laurence will be taking on the position of buying director for our EHT category. Laurence has an extensive knowledge and understanding of this market and is in a great position to take our product offering and services to the next level.”
