Hughes partners with Domestic and General

Electrical retailer Hughes Electrical has partnered with insurer Domestic and General to offer extended warranties on its electricals and appliances sold in-store.

The agreement will see Domestic and General provide cover for all warranties sold at point of sale at Hughes stores in the West Midlands and North-West.

With more than 45 stores nationwide, Hughes claims to be the UK’s fourth largest specialist electrical retailer and the second largest provider of home entertainment and kitchen appliance rentals.

Domestic & General cares for more than 22 million appliances, providing support to 16 million people worldwide. It is the extended warranty partner for many leading manufacturers and retailers, including Sky, AO, Bosch, Beko, Argos, Samsung, LG and Whirlpool.

“We’re delighted to be able to bring the peace of mind that comes with an extended warranty to Hughes’s customers,” said Kam Kandola, Domestic and General’s sales director.

Domestic and General’s network of over 8,500 engineers attends two million appliance breakdowns every year – an average of 5,340 repairs every day.

“Our customers range from busy young families, who want a hassle-free solution, to older people who want total peace of mind and someone on the end of the phone to help them,” added Mr Kandola.

Last year, Hughes won the Domestic and General Internet Retailer of the Year award, when it was voted as the best electrical website by more than 250,000 customers.
