Philips has unveiled its new 65in 4K UHD AmbiLux TV, which will be exclusively available at Harrods for three months, before being sold through other retailers.
Launched at the prestigious London department store this week, the TV, which sells for £3,999, uses LEDs to create a coloured halo of light of the wall behind.
Nine pico projectors are positioned on the rear of the AmbiLux TV and the continually changing colours match the TV’s on-screen content to create the impression of a much larger image. This is said to provide a more immersive viewing experience, as the screen’s action is brought to life on the wall behind the TV.
Powered by the Android smart TV platform, the AmbiLux, which can be integrated with Philips’s Hue smart lighting, has an ultra-narrow bezel and sits on a polished chrome Bladewire stand, creating a ‘floating’ effect.
Speaking at the launch of the AmbiLux TV, Graham Speake, managing director at TP Vision (Philips Television), said: “Philips has a heritage in TV – we’ve been innovating for many years. This is one of the most exciting launches I’ve seen. It was first seen as a concept two years at IFA in Berlin and the response was so positive that we made it happen.
“We’re launching it in the UK with Harrods. It was an easy decision to work with Harrods – they’re in a leading technology location and they’re fashion driven. We saw the design and the technology of the set and we’ve put together a package exclusively for Harrods.”
