Freesat welcomes Wuaki.tv to its platform

Freesat, the subscription-free satellite TV platform, has added video and on-demand service Wuaki.tv to its line-up.

All Freesat viewers with a connected set-top box now have access to Wuaki.tv’s selection of the latest and best-loved movies and TV shows.

Wuaki.tv also gives viewers the option of pre-ordering upcoming releases and movies, which can be rented from 99p without monthly subscriptions.

The launch adds to Freesat’s on-demand offering of 10 existing services, which include BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and Netflix.

Wuaki.tv is available across Humax Freesat set-top boxes, including the HDR-1000s 500GB, HDR-1010s 1TB, HB-1000s and HDR-1100s.

Freesat managing director Alistair Thom said: “We’re delighted to launch Wuaki.tv on Freesat and further enhance our popular on-demand offering. With over 200 subscription-free channels now available, Freesat viewers are truly spoilt for choice when it comes to great entertainment. The new service will give viewers access to a fantastic line-up of blockbuster films and TV shows, and best of all, you only pay for what you want to watch.”

Wuaki.tv European content director Simon Homent added: “We are happy to be the only VOD (video on demand) service on Freesat that offers the choice to buy or rent the latest Hollywood movies and the best TV shows. We are confident that Freesat customers will highly appreciate this unique subscription-free proposition within the overall satellite service.”
