Dixons Carphone named Retailer of Year by Retail Week

Dixons Carphone has been named Retailer of the Year in the Retail Week Awards with Oracle, at a ceremony last night at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The awards are said to honour the businesses and individuals that achieve excellence across the retail sector.

Sebastian James, group chief executive of Dixons Carphone, said: “This really is the ultimate accolade and I can say with absolute certainty on behalf of the whole team that we are thrilled and humbled to be given it. It belongs to my 40,000 colleagues who work tirelessly across our stores, distribution centres, customer service centres and support functions every day, to deliver the promises we make to our customers. You make Dixons Carphone what it is, thank you.”

Dixons Carphone was selected by a jury made up of influential figures and experts from the retail sector.

Chris Brook-Carter, editor-in-chief of Retail Week, said: “Dixons Carphone was recognised as Retailer of the Year as it delivered on and exceeded the promise of its creation in 2014. Two great retail companies, each of which in their own right defined eras, have merged to create a business designed to cater for the seismic shifts brought about by connected technology, such as smartphones. Its combination of products and services reflects today’s changing consumer needs and anticipates those still to come, and has already delivered financial results ahead of expectations.”
