Crown chosen again as a company to ‘inspire’ Britain

White-goods supplier Crown Domestic Appliances has been chosen for the second year running by the London Stock Exchange as one of 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain.

The firm, which is based in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, was congratulated by the Secretary of State for Business, Industry and Skills, Sajid Javid, who is also the local MP for Bromsgrove.

Speaking at the launch of the report, which lists 1,000 of the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK, Mr Javid said: “I wouldn’t be doing my job as a constituency MP if I didn’t highlight that there are two [listed companies] in Bromsgrove – Crown Domestic Appliances and Oakland International. So, well done to everyone who has made it on to this year’s list. But particularly those two.”

Mr Javid went on to highlight the commitment to innovation and investment demonstrated by these companies to ensure high-growth returns year on year. He commented: “That’s something the Government, and my department in particular, are really serious about supporting. From increasing the quality and quantity of apprenticeships, to reforming the planning system, to changing the way the Government supports growing companies who want to export.

“With the right support, the inspired ideas of today can become the businesses of tomorrow.”

As well as identifying successful companies, the annual report examines in detail the opportunities and challenges facing SMEs and looks at the sectors and trends that will shape the future of the UK economy.

Said John Graham, one of the directors of Crown Domestic Appliances: “After being selected for the 2015 edition, we were surprised and delighted to be included for the second successive year. Our inclusion is a tribute to the professionalism and hard work of all the staff at Crown.”
