Retail giant Amazon has completed its first commercial drone delivery in the UK.
The delivery was made in Cambridge, with the drone making its way down an automated track at the Cambridge fulfilment centre, before taking off and being guided by GPS to its destination.
The package was delivered just 13 minutes after the order was made, which took place on December 7.
The drones are capable of carrying items weighing up to 2.7kg, and fly at an altitude of up to 400ft.
The trial will be expanded to dozens of customers living close to the warehouse in the coming months.
Deliveries will be available seven days a week, however they must be made during daylight hours and when there are “low winds and good visibility, but not in rain, snow or icy conditions”.
