Alexa to work with Yamaha’s MusicCast

Yamaha has announced it will be incorporating Amazon Alexa voice control functionality into its multi-room MusicCast system.

This autumn, Yamaha will release a firmware update for more than 40 products in the MusicCast line-up, including AV receivers, soundbars and streaming speakers.

This will enable music to be distributed throughout the house using voice control.

An Alexa Skill that adds support for the MusicCast commands will simultaneously be made available.

In the meantime, those consumers who wish to use Amazon’s Alexa with their MusicCast system can pair an Echo Dot with any MusicCast wireless speaker, soundbar or AV receiver by using the Echo Dot’s Bluetooth output.

The two devices can then be connected by saying the words, ‘Alexa, connect’. This will enable the sound of the Echo Dot to be played back through a single MusicCast device, or multiple products can be linked using the MusicCast app.
