Frontier Silicon reaches 10 million milestone in DAB sales worldwide
02 February 2010

Frontier Silicon, supplier of DAB digital radio technology, has announced that it has reached a record 10 million sales in DAB systems worldwide.

With over 12 million DAB units already in circulation – and with this total growing by more than two to three million per year – Frontier Silicon expects to reach 20 million sales in less than half the time it has taken to reach 10 million.

Anthony Sethill, chief executive of Frontier Silicon (pictured), said: “This landmark 10 million sales figure is a big step forward for DAB.  It is further evidence that migration from analogue to digital radio is well underway both in Europe and Australia.

“Looking forward we see further strong sales growth not only from the home audio market but also from the growing automotive sector, with car manufacturers increasingly fitting DAB+ radios as standard.  Our DAB systems are the most widely deployed and trusted in the world.

"Mass market proven, our low cost and power consumption coupled with growing DAB penetration worldwide encourage us to believe in the increasing viability of universal access for manufacturers and consumers alike.”
