Leaked details of Apple iTV | Back |

A leaked consumer survey from Best Buy has revealed Apple’s speculative plans for a 42in Apple HDTV or Apple iTV.
Announcing in the Best Buy survey that “Apple finally reinvents what TV can do”, the Apple TV is rumoured to incorporate Apple’s operating software, iOS, which is currently found in Apple’s TV set-top box and allows the user to download and stream movies directly from the internet.
As well as streaming from Apple’s sites, users could stream from Netflix, YouTube and Skype.
The HDTV is said to allow users the ability to download and use apps from the app store, may have an iSight camera and microphone, and will have the ability to support Apple’s iCloud – a service for storing music and movies.
The Best Buy survey also reveals the speculative price of the TV, set to cost around £947, a high price by comparison with other high-specification TVs such as a Samsung 46in, which costs around £649, but it could signal Apple’s entrance into the TV market being a step closer to reality.
The legitimacy of the Best Buy survey has been questioned in other reports and could speak of only speculation or the idea of an Apple TV, rather than being based on any fact. However, it has been confirmed that Confirmit, a Norwegian research firm known to have Best Buy as a client, administered the survey.
