HMV to put technology products on TV

A TV advertising campaign for new technology products from entertainment retailer HMV launches tomorrow.

It will air over the weekend across terrestrial (ITV and Channels 4 and 5) and digital (Sky) channels with updated versions highlighting different HMV special offers running over the following weeks and in the run up to Christmas

The first ad will feature a week-long special offer of a free Bayan speakerdock worth £99 when customers buy a pair of Beats by Dr Dre Solo headphones at HMV.

As well as premium-branded headphones, the commercial, which features HMV’s iconic dog Nipper, will also focus on Samsung Galaxy tablets, a TDK two-speaker boombox and other technology products.

It will encourage customers to “touch it, watch it, hear it, feel it, play it, wear it, live it”. The store group allows customers to try out devices in-store.

HMV said the ad is part of a wider campaign that will also take in radio, national and consumer press advertising as well as instore and window displays and online, mobile and social media.

HMV has significantly expanded its personal technology offerings across its 250 stores - around a quarter of its retail space is now dedicated to technology devices and accessories across brands that include Apple, Beats by Dre, Bose, Samsung, Sennheiser, Skullcandy, Sony and TDK.

HMV claims to be the UK and Ireland's leading headphones retail specialist and, from next week, it will be one of the few retailers in the country to carry the new 'Destiny' Marley headphones from the House of Marley. The new range will be launched in the UK with a special live performance by Julian Marley at HMV's flagship Oxford Street store on Thursday October 27 at 6pm.
